About the Author

Nick Braisby first developed an interest in experimental and cognitive psychology during his undergraduate degree in Natural Sciences at the University of Cambridge. He then went on to study for a PhD in Cognitive Science at the Centre for Cognitive Science in Edinburgh. Following that, he took up a three year British Academy postdoctoral research fellowship, in the Department of Social Psychology at the London School of Economics. His first lecturing position was in the Department of Psychology at London Guildhall University (now London Metropolitan University), where he stayed for six years before moving to the Psychology Department at the Open University. In April 2007, he moved to take up a Chair and Head of Department position in the Psychology Department at the University of Winchester.

Angus Gellatly joined Oxford Brookes in October 2007 from the Open University where he had been since 2002, including three years as Head of Department. He had previously taught at Sussex University and Keele University, where he was Head of Department from 1992 to 2000. Along the way, he has also been a visiting researcher at the University of California at Santa Barbara and at MacQuarie University, Sydney; and he also had a spell working as a management consultant. At various times, he has been on the committees of the Experimental Psychology Society, the Cognitive Section of the British Psychological Society (BPS), and also the BPS's Division for Teachers and Researchers in Psychology. From 2000 to 2006, he was Deputy Chair and then Chair of the Association of Heads of Psychology Departments.

This Report, and the Map which accompanies it, embody the principal results of the geological surveys and researches made by myself in Tennessee, at intervals during the last twenty years. For six years of this period I acted under the authority of the State. For the remainder of the time, the surveys made, were on my personal account, and their results, in so far as they are here embraced, are a gratuitous contribution to the Geology of Tennessee.

What is presented in this volume is, with its merits and defects, essentially my own. The main part has been worked out laboriously in the field; and this without assistants, and with inadequate means. These circumstances constitute the only apology I offer for deficiences. The whole work has involved little, if any, less than 10,000 miles of travel.

The results of the labors of others, and especially, of my venerable predecessor, Dr, Troost, when available, have been freely used, and the proper credit given. To a number of my scientific cotemporaries, I am much indebted; their names are given in the course of the Report, and my obligations acknowledged.

To many friends in the State, I am also indebted for encouragement and assistance. To Col. S. D, Morgan, Dr, John B. Lindsley, of Nashville, Hon. Sam. Milligan, formerly of Greeneville, now of Washington, and Col. Wm, Bosson, of Murfreesboro', I am under especial obligations. A string of impossibly zany events follows, including a cow stampede, a train wreck, the explosion of a bathroom due to a chemistry set experiment, an archaeological coup, and more. Full-color cartoon-style paintings in bold acrylics fill the pages with a chaotic energy which dominates the book. The wild cast of characters and absurd sequence of events, together with the art, give this a manic quality reminiscent of Ungerer's work. This book will be enjoyed by upper elementary school children, who will be able to understand the complicated plot and appreciate the sophisticated humor. This book is about a chicken crossing a road which leads to many events. When the chicken crossed the road it lead to cows moving in a bridge. Then, the cows fall down a train. A robber escapes out of the train. Many more events follow after that. This is really a great book for the young reader to read.

Manara, where are you?

I think Milo Manara is one of the best illustrators. In Italy I found all of Manara's works, and - in my opinion - "Click 4" is one of the worst comics of his production.
We have no plot. Nothing about the mood of Manara's "Click 1"...
Do you want to know the real great Manara? Buy "Butterscotch" or "Click1", or "Indian Summer"...

The worst Click book . . .

Adult full-color graphic novel.

Claudia Christiani returns for her fourth tale. Unfortunately, this is the weakest book in the series. Claudia's husband (same one from before, even though they had apparently separated after the first book ("Click 1")), a lawyer, represents Globalchem in a lawsuit over Methylene alcohol being used in food, causing people to go blind. The son and daughter (the sister being a little too causal about being nude in front of her brother, and the brother being a little too accommodating by shaving her and the like) of one of the victims decide to try to ruin Globalchem's lawyer by getting/using Claudia.

After failing miserably on their own, Dr. Fez contacts them to offer his help (actually, he contacted them before that, but the female didn't believe him). Apparently he has made a transmitter himself, even though he lost the first one in the first book, and by the end of that book thought that it was a fraud. His notes allowed him to create a better transmitter (strange, he didn't make the transmitter to begin with, and he never seemed to take any notes; he was a medical doctor, nothing previously implied that he was also an engineer or an inventor).

The fourth book in the series is somewhat off putting by the addition of edge of incest-like activity, though the drawing is still good. The plot is somewhat silly, and the characters are a little shallower than previous books.

Overall, the book includes scenes at the edge of incest, a certain level of humiliation, and a certain small amount of sex.

Not his best work.

The story and art of this book should have been fabulous. And they were if compared to the work of other writers/artists. But Manara is not your average adult comic book creator.
The sketches are bland and not too interesting when compared to comics like Manara's Sutra or his various collections of drawings.
