Ready or Not ???

Sasha Ravae what is one thing someone can say about her? Excellent writer! Since I found out about her work through a group on Facebook, I have not been disappointed. I can truly she is one of the few authors whose work can take me out of my element emotionally. Like her other books, her selection of word choice in this book can have the reader visualize that they are within the story. However, I did notice more grammar/spelling/spacing issues than the others I have read but not enough that it would distract from the book as a whole.

Los(Mr. Manipulator): I could tell from the beginning how he was going to be. He is too calm and collected to not know what he was going to do, but he can fool others well mainly one person who holds the key into what he wanted from the beginning. I wonder how things are going to turn since an admission has been made. Honestly, I need him to go ASAP, just based off his attitude. I just don't like shady people and he is the definition of shady.

Renee(Ms. Envious or Nah?): Although she acts like the typical envious other woman, something doesn't sit right with me about her. It feels like it is more to her anger than just being jealous. I'm curious to see how this plays out and what her role is in the end. I am guessing that the role is going to be bigger than expected...

Yari(Ms. Clingy/Messy): She is just all over the place that can only lead to drama. She craves attention, and when she doesn't get the attention, she resorts to some potential dangerous actions. I'm just not feeling the drama that I see coming with her. The door she has opened by association with certain people is only going to come back to bite her and even others in the end...

Trina(Ms. Pseudo Boss/Goddess): She truly "not about that life", but she sure pretends to be able to handle it. She wanted to step up like a boss, but one person can make her back down based on emotions. She surely didn't seem like she understood what she was getting into; it surely is not for the "weak" at heart or simple minded individuals. Her kryptonite came back, and that was all she wrote. Now that the truth has come out, I wonder if emotions will dissolve and she take care if the problem and face her the consequences of her na�ve actions...

There needs to be a part two at some point to see if she lives up to the name "Diosa" or reverts to the broken individual that she hasn't moved on from being. I know, however, this turns out Author Sasha Ravae is going to give the unexpected just to keep readers (especially me) on edge...

Trap Dummy!!!

This was another really good story by Sasha Ravae. I have yet to be disappointed by anything she's written. This book was no different.

Trina. How can I describe her? Hmmmm. Well, for her to be a "boss" chick, she sure is dumb as hell. She talked too damn much. I mean really, what boss do you know who tells all their business to people outside of their business? Reko might have been right. She wasn't made out to be the boss. If you think about it, she really didn't earn the position. It was handed to her only because she was with Jonah at the time of the tragedy. She claimed to love him so much, but not even two months after he was murdered, she throws everything he stood for and represented, out the window. All because she bumps in to her first love, Los. All the back and forth she was doing in her head about whether she would give them another chance, kind of got on my nerves. B*tch, you knew you wanted to be back with Los from the very beginning. She betrayed all the people who actually looked out for her and surrounded herself with people who didn't give a damn about her. She's about to get a rude awakening now that he has showed his true colors. When this s*** hits the fan, she deserves everything RG does to her. I for one won't feel sorry for her. She's dumb as hell and doesn't deserve to be the boss. My gut tells me they already know about Los. They are just sitting back and waiting. She only proved what Renee was saying all along. It looks like she was only with Jonah for his money and to get over Los. Renee might have been right. Speaking of Renee. I peeped a few things out after I finished reading and all I'm gonna say is things don't add up with her. I mean, they add up but.... I'll just keep my thoughts to myself. LOL. I'm keeping my eye on Renee. I gave this book 4 ****s because it took a minute for things to pop off. The story line kept me interested but it took a minute for the drama to start. Also, I'm gonna be honest. I said this before but, Trina was just DUMB!

Sasha has done it once again another great read I knew this book was going to be great the title alone solid me...this book was set up perfect & I definatly wasn't expecting for Jonah to be kill so quick and my poor Ron I like him for some reason I just knew him & Trina would end up together but boy I sure was fooled...then there is Yari with her talkative self.. oh my that damn Los pissed me off at the end I knew he was up to something but DAMN marriage...sasha u gotta give me part two like ASAP I can't wait to read Trina response...hurry hurry pls I need my fix lol

A good conspiracy has tantalizing secrecy and a well recognized event that evokes anger, regret and suspicion about a forgotten era. Human drama is also a must when completing this list of what continues to draw us closer when certain topics are mentioned in a hushed voice. Titanic or Olympic: Which Ship Sank? knows this is what entices the curious reader and invites them on an absolutely fascinating tour that examines in serious detail one of the greatest theories that still follows in the wake of April 15, 1912- was it TITANIC or her sister ship OLYMPIC that went down with over 1,500 souls that tragic night? Upfront the authors admit that if true and the OLYMPIC was switched for the TITANIC this would have been the largest (and most elaborate) hoaxes on the public and insurance scam of all time.

This work then continues onto chapters filled with the passages behind the popular theory, my favorites being: “Mystery or History”, “The Lifeboat Evidence” and “Photographic Assessment". In these heavily detailed sections the believed evidence is presented with entertaining information of missing names from rescue registries, undecided final tallies, double numbered lifeboats and even oddly colored paint under where the recognized nameplate of TITANIC rests at the bottom of the Atlantic. I’ll admit after reading all of the known and displayed “evidence”; I was beginning to believe the greatest hoax happened. It was the ideal time for this work to switch direction and build reality from the keel up to her distinct swan-neck vents. Time then flew for this collector of history who just stared for large increments at the next displayed snapshots with the key parts of the ships marked to clearly illustrate differences from the minute to the hidden in plain view. I didn’t want to put this book down and I borrowed a Kindle Fire to get the full effect of the photographs (some I have never seen before). The more and more the pages turned with these intriguing comparative pictures, documented testimony and re-examinations of the previous chapters (slamming aside fragmented statements and popular myth with cold hard facts); the more I could say “well I’m convinced” as well as “I didn’t know that!”. Even after that this book went on and precisely explained the intimate particulars that any familiar crew member could never have been completely fooled over or the complex contracts of silence that would have been necessary.

Any possible lingering doubts were finally laid to rest at that point (especially when the quote from Violet Jessop came about) and my kindle marked that the book had ended but it didn’t. There were a few more surprises left (like dazzle paint) for this fellow reader of history and the concluding sections were centered on what happened long after April 15, 1912 for the Titanic’s sister ships. Those parts were equally fascinating as the beginning chapters and turned into a poignant narrative that sounded the final three horn blows on the decadent world that created the marvels of the oceans. A fitting ending for such a fantastic reference I don’t think I will ever pass a photograph of the TITANIC or OLYMPIC again without counting the portholes, trying to look for the number “401” or “400” on anything at museums (or even high priced estate sales- I can always hope right?) or searching cinematic scenes for round windows versus rectangle. For everything this title offered and presented this is one book I couldn’t be more overall pleased in finding. Highly Recommended.

This book puts to rest the silly conspiracy theory that Olympic and Titanic were swapped and the wreck on the bottom of the ocean today is Olympic and not Titanic. The authors carefully guide the reader through the many implausible events that would have had to happen to switch the two liners and wraps it up with the countless (some very small) differences between Olympic & Titanic.
It is also a great reference tool for the Olympic & Titanic historian.
HIghly recommended!

About the Author
Elizabeth Branstead is a fifth generation Californian and an eleventh generation American. As a child, she loved hearing stories about the Hubbard family from her grandmother and aunt. She earned degrees (B.A., UC Berkeley, in English; M.A., Boston University, in American Literature; M.Ed., San Jose State University, in Career Counseling) and continued to listen to more stories. Along the way. Elizabeth taught college English, served as Training Manager at a high tech firm, worked as a corporate outplacement consultant, and was one of the pioneering founders of international outplacement consulting boards. She co-authored From Downsizing to Recovery, a practical guide for companies who are downsizing, with Richard Knowdell and Milan Moravic. For the Hubbard Family: Pioneers in America, she traveled throughout the USA. She writes "how and why" her forebearers moved and chronicles their ability to create new lives in new locations.

I loved the book!

I loved the book! In the interest of full disclosure, I bought the book because I know the author and
knew how much work she had put into her family's history. That being said, I expected the usual
dry listing of names, dates and a few family stories. Instead I found a "story" of individuals successfully and
unsuccessfully adapting to very rapid changes in our country. The historical references
to our country were skillfully woven with the personal history. It made the United States history more personal.
It made the personal history more alive because it was presented within the framework
of what actually was happening in their time. Good read!

A whole new class of family history writing

In a way, it is unfair for me to rate a book I haven't finished. But so far, I am impressed. I expected a standard genealogical text, which this is not. however, it is not a lot of fanciful 19th century embroidery either. The book conveys history in an interesting way, explaining it by way of the author's family. I am also descended from her most distant ancestors, and I understood them in a whole new way. I have checked out a lot of the early facts, and so far everything is quite accurate. But more than accurate, it is also fascinating. The people seem real.

Definite Five Stars

Between this book and "Be My Baby", Andersen has gone on my automatic buy list. There are very few writers who can pen a hero as well as Andersen. In fact, only Susan Elizabeth Phillips and Linda Howard come to mind.
I was shocked to see some of the bad reviews this book took on this site. "Baby I'm Yours" is a fresh, innovative, sexy, hilarious, light-hearted romantic comedy. If you like to laugh, and if you enjoy reading about feisty, quirky heroines who bring strong, primal males to heel, then this is the book to purchase.
There's nothing quite as nice for a reading enthusiast as finding an author who can make you smile.

Excellent!

I've never read anything by Susan Anderson before, but if "Baby I'm Yours" is an indicator of how she writes, I'll be snapping up all of her books without a second thought. I especially like the cover art on her books. They are snappy and sharp and suit her writing style. I like how Anderson situates normal people like Catherine MacPherson and Sam McKade into her novels and bases her story not on an overly fantastic plot, but more a journey of two people who fall in love. I find that a lot of romance novels get caught up in the setting, regency England, for example and the history of the period and completely lose the characters. Without giving away too much of the novel, this is a writer not to be missed!

A Little Too Much "Romance 101"

While "Baby, I'm Yours" is entertaining enough to hold a reader's attention, there are some passages that appear to have been constructed using a "Guide for Writing Romance". It is absurd for the author to expect us to believe that when a man enters a woman's home and threatens her with a gun, she's going to notice "his strength", yet "Baby, I'm Yours" is full of scenarios in which Catherine, the heroine, notices Sam's physical attributes and inner appeal when she would really be trying to escape his clutches. Yes, this is a romance novel. Yes, we expect conflict and tension between our couple. But in this book, the attraction these two characters feel for one another pops up in places where it should not, giving the book a contrived sense about it. Also, at one point, Catherine has a chance to flee from Sam and just like they must teach in Romance 101 classes, she becomes a silly female and remains stuck in her predicament. The worst we have to face is Catherine's ludicrous request that Sam shoot a spider with the little bit of ammunition they have. Again, we are to find it "precious" that she wants protection from a spider in any old, silly, aren't-I-just-vulnerable?, female way she can get it. There is no depth of character, Sam is an unattractive, bratty male, and her subplots (Kaylee and Bobby; Gary back in Florida) are so much better-woven than the main plot, that one is left starving for those characters to creep back up and take over from the boredom that Catherine and Sam provide. In short, the story is too skeletal: The author hits on all of the Romance 101 keys but leaves us wanting a story we can sink our teeth into.
